1. Yoga is done with bare feet, please remove your shoes and leave them in the bins outside the studio in the reception hall.

  2. We ask you that you turn your cell phones off when you enter our studio.

  3. Wear comfortable form fitting clothing so your teacher can better assess and correct any misalignments or incorrect posture.

  4. For higienic reasons we encourage you to bring your own personal yoga mat, but if you forgot yours we have some that you can buy or borrow at our studio.

  5. Yoga is done on an empty stomach. Do not eat or drink at least 2 hours before practicing yoga. 3 hours is the optimum recommended. If you have to drink something  before class have a small glass of fruit juice or green vegetable juice no sooner than 30 minutes before class. Do not bring water bottles in the studio; drinking water while practicing yoga is not a good idea — after class is okay and recommended to drink plenty of water.

  6. Try not wear strong cologne or perfume while in class. Some people might be very sensitive to perfumes.

  7. Let your teacher know before class if you are pregnant or if you have an injury or pain.

  8. Please do not arrive to class more than 15 minutes late. The door will be locked 15 minutes after class begins.

  9. Try to stay the full length of the class. The relaxation at the end of class is necessary to avoid injury, muscle soreness and for the body to absorb the practice. If you have to leave due to an emergency or need please be mindful not to disturb your classmates.

  10. Follow your teacher's instructions even if you think you know the sequence already. Every class has a sequence and every pose or movement has a reason.

  11. Be aware of your neighbor classmates but don't let their posture or movements distract you from your own body focus. Be courteous, mindful and friendly. You can learn from them but without a competitive spirit.

  12. Listen to your body, it will tell you when you are straining or when you can move forward. If you are in pain your body is telling you to stop. You can feel a little but do not push yourself beyond pain. The saying " No pain no gain" does NOT apply to yoga. Do not compete against other students who might be more flexible or stronger. Instead, listen to your body, get to your edge and then stop. Come back to that edge next time and push your body a fraction of an inch more. Small increments are better than a lot of pain.

  13. Have fun. It is okay to laugh, to respond to questions and to have a sense of humor as long as it does not become disruptive. If you fall from a pose it is okay; just pick up yourself smile and go back to the pose you were in. Always keep a sense of humor.
